Bikepacking on Paved Roads

We had a dream – to experience incredible adventures on quiet roads, without performance anxiety, through the most beautiful places in Europe.

This dream has come to life with The Grand Escape series of events.

The Grand Escape is not just a simple bikepacking event, it is an escape from everyday life, a shared ride with other enthusiasts to do what we love most: discover the world on a bike.

Live the adventure of a lifetime as you wish: there is no fixed time, and you can complete the route in as many days as you prefer.

One Stage

The routes will be a single stage that you can divide up as you see fit by choosing where/when to eat and where/when to sleep. No fixed time.

You will follow the routes thanks to a GPS track that will be provided. You will have to follow the route in its entirety and without cuts. Ecstasy from the first to the last kilometer.

Self Supported

No assistance from the organizers. No personal assistance in tow. It will just be you and your bike.

Tuscany As You Have Never Seen It

Rolling hills, medieval villages, and green forests, in a word: Tuscany.

It will be a journey along the most beautiful and iconic roads of Tuscany, through an itinerary created by those who have always pedaled in this land, 365 days a year.

An event for cyclists, organized by cyclists.

Cities of art such as Florence and Siena will alternate with areas of natural beauty such as the Val d’Orcia and the Chianti.

It will be a journey that you will share with hundreds of other participants worldwide.

The Route

A route that will allow you to discover no less than five UNESCO sites. We have been pedaling these roads for a long time.

We have chosen paved routes that will take you to some of the most beautiful views in Italy, on back roads with no traffic. It’s been a long work. We have dedicated ourselves to showing you the best.

The departure point is Castagneto Carducci, located on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Tuscan coast.

The route will be a loop route entirely on the tarmac but away from the traffic. We have selected only the best roads, a meticulous work that has led to the realization of an itinerary that lets you discover the best of Tuscany.

Riding through the Chianti vineyards, speeding up to the Radicofani fortress, or squealing with happiness on the Val d’Orcia descents will make you feel like it’s your first time on a bike.

This is the magic of Tuscany. It’s a big playground of trees, the sea, and hills where you can test yourself and how much you want.

At whatever speed you want to go, one thing you can be sure of: these days in Tuscany will stay with you forever.

You have to be really hard of heart not to sigh at the sun rising over the wild Maremma or the sea turning fiery on the sunset at Orbetello.

And enter the Palio square in Siena? Or stop in front of the Duomo in Florence?

These are all experiences through which even leg fatigue will vanish at the end of the day.

On the route, you will find all the truest Tuscany offers and can only experience so by bike.

Live the Adventure

Pack your bags and hit the pedals: a real adventure awaits you.

The unexpected will be there and the 700 kilometers between departure and arrival will not be easy, but that is what everyone wants.

On The Grand Escape, you will break out of your daily grind, shake up your comfort zone, and experience days whose rhythms are dictated only by sunrise and sunset.

Some sleep in a bed, others, the adventurous, choose a sleeping bag under the stars.

And at the starting line, you will find many people like you. It could be friends you’ll participate with or new ones you’ll find on the course.

Maybe with some, you’ll experience a healthy competition that will push each other before finding yourself at the same osteria eating Tuscan pasta while sharing stories about the route.

The Grand Escape Tuscany, 360° Experience

Get ready for an experience that goes beyond cycling. Your experience with The Grand Escape Tuscany will continue when you get off your bike.

Dive into a land of dreams thanks to a route that takes you to no less than 5 UNESCO sites: Tuscany is a perfect region for biking through culture, art cities, traditions, food, and wine.

We recommend you experience it fully by eating and drinking Tuscan…

The Grand Escape is defined as a “no-stop” event in the sense that there are no fixed stops but each participant can freely decide where to stop, to eat and to sleep along the way. Our advice is to study the route before leaving in order to get an idea of the possible stops that you will make.

We have no agreements along the way. The best way to find a place at the best price is to take advantage of the technology and, in particular, use Booking.com and Google Maps. The offers that you will find on these two websites are the best in absolute and we would not be able to get these offers even with a possible agreement.Google Maps allows you to understand where an accommodation facility is and how many kilometers separate you from it while booking.com allows you to book online.

There is no possibility to register in The Grand Escape after the official registration date.

As per our regulations that you must read before registering, there is no refund/ partial refund/transfer of registration to the following year.

Cancellation – If, for reasons of force majeure that do not depend on the organization but on environmental and / or health reasons at national or international level, the event could not take place, the amount paid at the time of registration will not be refunded but will be considered valid for the next edition. The organization will be entitled, for those who re-register free of charge to the next edition, to a contribution for secretarial expenses and the renewal of the sports card.

Shifting of the event – Furthermore, for reasons of force majeure or other serious reasons, which could jeopardize the preparation of the event or the participation in it by a number of people not less than half of the members, the Organization reserves the right to move the place and / or date of the event within the same calendar year. In this case, the registration fee paid will be valid for the event on the rescheduled date, without any additional costs for the members. We are back

Although 2018 was the last edition of the Tuscany Road, we knew that sooner or later there would be a revival of this event. And indeed, five years later, we are back.

In all these years we have never stopped loving Tuscany and the feeling of freedom you get when you put your bikepacking bags on your bike.

We cycled, we talked, and finally we decided that it was time to revive an event that must not be forgotten.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us over the years to bring it back.
